Vendors Sought for Multicultural Festival — Reston Community Center is seeking arts and crafts vendors, food vendors and civic organizations of all cultures for the 17th annual Reston Multicultural Festival. The festival will be held Saturday, Sept. 23 at Lake Anne Plaza. Applications are being accepted through July 28. [Reston Community Center]

Covered Bridge Renovated — In its latest “Reston Today” video dispatch, Reston Association shows off the work that has been done on the covered bridge on the RA trail system near Lake Anne. [Reston Association/YouTube]

Metro Work This Weekend — The Silver Line will only run to Ballston this weekend. In addition, new Metro hours go into effect tonight. The system will close at 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday nights, but is only open from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Sundays. [WTOP]

Toll Road Work Rescheduled — Due to poor weather, the detour diverting traffic heading to the Fairfax County Parkway from the eastbound Dulles Toll Road exit ramp through the Herndon-Monroe Park & Ride north parking lot was canceled last night. It has been rescheduled for Sunday night, July 16. “The Silver Line will only run to Ballston this weekend”

As the orange line will still run on the same tracks, can’t be a track taken off line for maintenance

As silver line customers will simply use the orange line, its likely not a demand issue..

We pay how much in toll road fees and they are arbitrarily taking the silver line down? Do we get reduced tolls this weekend?

    • Mike M

No reduced tolls. Only reduced service.
      Next question, please.

      Its worse than I thought!

Not only are they stopping the silver line at Ballston, but there will be no trains between Foggy Bottom and Federal Triangle.

So for Restonites (or Herdonites/Loudounites/etc) planning to go on the subway to DC, the powers that be would have you get the train on Wiehle, travel to Ballston, get off at Ballston, wait for the next orange line train, enter the orange line train, get off at Foggy Bottom, take the bus to Federal Triangle or Metro Center (they have two options), and then reenter the Metro again when the bus ride completes.

This is undo-able. Might as well drive to east falls church metro, or if you don’t mind exorbitant parking fees, park in DC.

There is only 4 stations between Ballston and Foggy Bottom. Given that the train maintenance going on with Foggy Bottom, couldn’t they have at least offered silver line to Foggy Bottom. It feels like the middle finger is pointed in our direction.

I am tempted to write and complain to our favorite county rep. I did that once before and got no answer.

    About that “Multicultural Festival” . . .

I am thinking about setting up a booth for the White European Ancestry Males (WEAMs). I am planning some events where we can maybe do a self-flagellation parade to the delight of the crowd. As for vending maybe we can sell engraved apologies for building the civilized world as we know it. I desperately want to make money off Liberals and their hateful self-righteousness. It’s such a hot force. Ideally I could sell them something that shows them for the fools they are. That dude who made up the pussy hat, . . . genius!

      Femnazi doll which repeats ‘shame,shame,shame…..’

liberals gave up on the idea of a “melting pot” and went to multicultural identity politics instead. Maybe someone can open a Melting Pot food booth instead of tapas trucks and greasy Asian takeout…
