Yes, lets have a promotion involving a out of town baseball team. Only in the DMV area..

    • OoT

      The Montreal Expos?

    • Willie Reston

Right, because no other cities have bars that cater to specific teams from other cities.

    • The Constitutionalist

Yeah, as opposed to when the Nats play themselves, right?

What the hell are they thinking!?

      • JoeInReston

Nats playing themselves would be a weird event indeed, but just as weird is a promotion involving two out of town baseball teams.

        • Willie Reston

I’m not sure if you’re unaware the Nats are a local team or if you’re just being pedantic…

            Talking about the Orioles

“Guests seated at the bar during Friday or Saturday Orioles and Nationals games are eligible”

          • Willie Reston

Yeah, no. You called them both “out of town teams” in your previous comment.

          • JoeInReston

            To clarify…

I made a comment about out of town baseball team, meaning the Orioles. In hindsight, I should have been more clear. The Constitutionalist took a novel yet perfectly valid interpretation – every baseball game involves an out of town baseball team, so therefore to frown on a promotion involving an out of town baseball team would be to frown on every baseball game, unless the team was playing themselves. So to clear up my meaning under that interpretation, I had to specify a game involving two out of town teams, meaning the Orioles and their opponent.

Technically speaking the beltway series consists of the orioles, the local home team, and the out of town team the montreal expos colloquially referred to as the nats. Thems the facts.

          • JoeInReston

The beltway series is the name of a set of baseball games between Orioles and the Nationals. You haven’t really provided any support on how that makes the Orioles local. The fact the franchise now known as the Nationals once played in Montreal is irrelevant. You conveniently failed to mention the Nationals are far closer to Reston the Orioles.

If anything the “beltway series” proves the Orioles are out of town. A beltway is defined as, “highway around the perimeter of an urban area”. DC and Baltimore don’t share the same beltway. They each have their own. Ergo, they are separate urban areas. So any promotion involving the Orioles would be for a separate urban area.

          • Disenfranchised

For the newly arrived the nats are the home team perhaps.

For the old timers and die hard baseball falls the o’s are and always will be the home team (even tho they just lost 12 in a row).

I m glad you enjoy this but some people in Montreal don’t and neither does Angelos.

          • Willie Reston

Okay so you were just being pedantic, thanks. And good job editing your original post to make it look as though you were only talking about the Orioleswhen you definitely mentioned the Nats in your original comment.

          • JoeInReston

My whole complaint was that the Glory Days was having a promotion for the Orioles. That was it. I am a big Nats fan. I would never post anything complaint about a Nationals promotion. This is my last response on the matter on my original intent.. You can have the last word.

          • Mike M

Willie has a hard time keeping up.

          • Willie Reston

He edited his original comment which mentioned both O’s and Nats as out of town teams, so no. Keep swinging, tike!

          • Mike M

            Not worth the time Willie.

  • Chuck Morningwood

“Pass the ball” sounds like more fun than “Pass the kidney stone”.
