Town of Herndon Police say a man was robbed and assaulted in the 1000 block of Elden Street on June 23.

Police said three suspects attacked a Herndon man about 11:45 p.m. that night. The victim told police he did not know the suspects.

The victim told police the men stole property valued at approximately $415.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries, police said.

Herndon Police are looking for a Florida man whom they say is a registered sex offender and was taking photos of a child at the Herndon Fortnightly Library on June 11.

Police said Steven Michael Edwards was involved in an altercation in the Town of Herndon Saturday after he was observed taking photographs of a juvenile while at the library.

The altercation was reportedly with the father of a young girl after the father saw Edwards allegedly take photos of his child. Edwards, 58, fled before police arrived.

Herndon Police said Edwards did not commit a crime by taking the pictures, but when they investigated the Edwards they found he is a registered sex offender in Florida. Police said Edwards failed to re-register since his arrival in Virginia.

Court records show Edwards was convicted of peeping in South Carolina in 2006 and of indecent exposure in Fairfax County in 2013. He was caught exposing himself in a Vero Beach, Fla., store in 2015, and was charged with disorderly conduct, failure of a sex offender to register in person with the Sheriff’s Office, and failure of a sex offender to report to the Department of Motor Vehicles.

He pleaded guilty to the peeping charge in 2006 and received an 18-month jail sentence, which included a requirement that he register as a sex offender. He pleaded no contest to the indecent exposure charge in 2013 and received a 180-day jail sentence, of which 120 days were suspended.

Herndon Police said Edwards is currently homeless, and he is known to be frequenting libraries in the area. Edwards is about 5-foot-5 tall and 125 lbs. He has brown hair and green eyes. If you have any information,  call 703-435-6846.

Update, Tuesday, 7:30 a.m.: Cindy has been found and is safe, Herndon Police said.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the Herndon Police are asking area residents to be on the lookout for Cindy Guzman Serrano.

Guzman Serrano, 13, was last seen on Sunday, June 5. She may be in the company of two adult males. They may be traveling in a black four-door sedan, possibly an older model Pontiac.

Cindy is about 5-foot-6 inches tall and 125 lbs. She has brown hair and brown eyes.

A Herndon woman was charged with aggravated assault after she allegedly stabbed a teenager, Herndon Police said.

Herndon Police said the juvenile male victim was in the 1100 block of Elden Street on May 13 about 8:30 p.m. when he reported being stabbed in the shoulder by a person known to him.

The boy received medical treatment at the scene for non-life threatening injuries and was released to a parent.

Jacqueline Deloise Escobar, 51, was arrested and transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, police said. She was served with a warrant for Felony Aggravated Assault and is being held without bond.

The Herndon Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating  a teenage girl missing from Herndon.

Police said Fany Torres Gonzales, 15, is believed to be a runaway.

Fany is known to frequent the area of Dulles Park Ct and Alabama Dr. in Herndon, police said.

Three women have told Herndon Police that an unknown man exposed himself to them on Sunday.

All incidents took place in the vicinity of Worldgate Drive and Elden Street during a 45-minute span midday on March 13, police said.

One victim told police she was approached from behind by the suspect who, after gaining her attention by speaking to her, touched her on her buttocks. The suspect then walked past the victim, turned around, and exposed himself., police said.

Police said it was third such report that afternoon.

The suspect is described as a black male approximately 5’10” to 6 foot, with a slim-to-athletic build, with facial hair. The case is under investigation, police said.

Herndon Police have made an made an arrest in an attempted abduction case of a teenage girl in July.

Police said that Jose Guadalupe Santamaria, 40, of Herndon, tried to kidnap a teen on July 13. A similar case occurred near Fox Mill in early August.

Santamaria is charged with abduction with the intent to defile and attempting to entice a subject into a dwelling. He is being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center without bond.

Police say a teen girl was waiting for a bus in the 1300 blcok of Springtide Place about 7 a.m. when Santamaria, approached her and offered her money to come to his house. The girl told police she refused and walked away.

Santamaria then approached her from behind and tried to force her to come with him, police say. The teen broke way and ran back to her house.

Law enforcement located Santamaria near a residence in Loudoun County and arrested him.
