This week’s Pet of the Week is Lucy, a suspected part Maine Coon who loves bonding with people.

Here’s what her friends at Fancy Cats Rescue Team had to say about her:

Lucy is a sweet girl who likes to purr. She’s a longhair domestic who was rescued out of a box at 7 weeks old. She is now 3 years and 3 months old and weighs in at 9 pounds. Because of her size, markings and a meow that is often more of a “trill” than meow, she may be part Maine Coon. She’s been raised in an adult household, purely indoors, and has not been around other animals very much. I’ve been told she is timid around other fur babies in these situations.

She loves people bonding time and likes to lay right next to her person on the couch or in bed at night. She’s a good sleeper and won’t wake you at night. She’s very happy to lay on the foot of the bed and just know you are close by. She’s a quiet girl other than when she hasn’t seen her person for hours or if she’s craving treats. She will do figure eights around your legs, purr loudly and talk to you in both situations. You can’t help but laugh and scratch her.

Her favorite toy is a cat fishing pole, and she loves to chase the red light from a laser pointer. She runs and slides on hard floors because of the fluffy hair on her paws! She does need semi-regular combing of her hair and benefits from sanitary trims under her tail. She had a “lion cut” a few weeks ago and loved it, thanking mom for how much cooler she felt and reducing hairballs in her tummy!

She may be a little anxious while adjusting to new people and a new living situation but rest assured it will pass.

Meet Reston’s latest Pet of the Week, Robbie. He had a tough past, but, even so, this sweet boy is trusting and is ready to make new friends (human and dog!).

Here’s what Robbie’s friends at NOVA Pets Alive! had to say about him:

Everyone loves Rob, and Rob loves everyone!

This sweet boy’s story will break your heart. He was tied outside to starve with several other dogs, some of which sadly didn’t make it. When we first met Rob he was skin and bones. It was hard to believe such a neglected dog could still be so trusting and sweet after all he was put through.

We sent Rob to an amazing foster family who nursed him back to health, and they have nothing but love for their sweet hound dog. Rob is housebroken, good with other dogs, good with kids, and loves going for a nice long walk.

Rob’s foster mom says: “He is a darling dog, super friendly with everyone. He’s made several people and doggie friends in the neighborhood and would do great with kids and a dog buddy. Rob is an absolute delight of a dog and whoever adopts him will be sooooooo lucky!”

Meet Reston’s latest Pet of the Week, Shadow. This week girl is gentle, calm and affectionate.

See what her friends at Fancy Cats Rescue Team had to say about her:

Shadow is an affectionate cat any household would be lucky to have. She is very sweet, in a gentle and calm sort of way. True to her name, she will follow you around wherever you go, asking for attention. Shadow is not a clingy or up-in-your-face snuggler, though. She will sit beside you on the floor and occasionally the couch or chair and just ask for neck scratches.

One of Shadow’s favorite things to do is lay her head on your foot while you sit and just fall asleep, comforted by your touch. Shadow does like to play, but it isn’t usually for very long. She will not demand to play or to receive love and has a quiet, peaceful presence.

Shadow will greet you with a meow whenever you enter the door, a warm welcome and some affection. She will purr even before you touch her and soaks in all of the attention given. Shadow would do well in a less chaotic, quieter home where she can receive attention but will do fine being left alone for a few hours.

Meet Mr. Ginger, Reston’s latest Pet of the Week. Mr. Ginger is a sweet, gentle 14-year-old fella looking for a quiet home.

Here’s what his friends at Fancy Cats Rescue Team had to say about him:

Mr. Ginger is a tall 14-year-old kitty with a sweet, gentle personality. He willingly adjusts to petting, combing, trimming (his claws) and even vet check-ups. He likes to lean in to have his muzzle stroked and combed and requests more attention with a gentle tap, tap, tap of his paw.

Mr. Ginger enjoys a quiet environment with a regular feeding and petting routine or curled up in a warm, cozy place in the company of his people. As an older cat, Mr. Ginger has a sensitive stomach, which has been managed well with a wet cat food specifically designed for sensitive kitty tums. Catching outdoor critters makes him sick, so indoors is best for Mr. Ginger. He also has a little arthritis in his right hip but is still quite spry and can jump up into a lap or chair.

Meet Hank, Reston’s latest Pet of the Week. Hank is a quiet and gentle 11-year-old who will love sitting on your lap.

Here’s what Hank’s friends at Fancy Cats Rescue Team had to say about him:

Hank is a quiet guy with the biggest heart. He would love to sit in your lap — if you help him up! Or he’s content with sitting in his comfy bed, near you, so he can be a part of the action. At 11 years old and super gentle, Hank loves being brushed and occasionally gets interested in shiny feather toys.

With a proper intro, Hank could live with another mellow cat, that minds their P’s and Q’s.

P.S. He’s a litter box champ! He’s just looking for a calm and quiet home with nice people who will dote on him in his golden years. He would benefit from a wet diet for his aging kidneys.

Meet Bella, Reston’s newest Pet of the Week. This sweet, gentle Boxer is estimated to be around 6 to 8 years old.

Here’s what her friends at Boxer Rescue and Adoption, Inc. had to say about her:

Bella is a very sweet, quieter dog who is a little reticent but warms up. She loves her creature comforts and is not destructive. She loves her crate, which is piled high with blankets.

She is gentle taking treats and the food bowl. We switched food when she broke out in hives, so that hasn’t been much of an issue lately. Bella would prefer a quieter home where she could spend time snuggling with her owner. She is happy to go outside but happier to be right back inside with you.

We don’t know how old Bella is, but she is probably a senior. When asked for a guess, the vet thought she was between 6 and 8, but because we don’t have long-term history on her, it is a guess.

Are you and Bella the perfect match?

4-year-old Pav is curious and confident and loves exploring his environment. In the morning he loves watching birds from a safe distance, pouncing on his toys, and jumping into boxes and hiding. He’s playful and energetic. When it’s time to settle down, he likes long afternoon naps in a sunny window and will keep you warm during the nights on a warm, soft bed.

Here’s what his friends at Fancy Cats Rescue Team had to say about him:

Quincy is a sweet 2-year-old German Shepherd/American Staffordshire Terrier mix. He loves going to dog parks where he can exercise those legs. He loves his humans and would do best in a home where he’s the sole recipient of your affection! He does best with older children. Quincy has an average activity level and  likes to go on 2-3 walks a day. He’d be a great running and hiking companion. He’d love nothing more than to find his forever home!

Reston’s Pet of the Week is Twinkles, a short-haired cat who’s spent the past year in a West Virginia shelter awaiting her forever home.

Here’s what she told her friends at Fancy Cats Rescue Team:

Hi y’all! My name is Twinkles. I am a sweet, vocal, loud purring, snuggly tuxedo cat from West Virginia. I came to the Fancy Cats Rescue Team after spending over a year in a West Virginia shelter. (Can you believe it?!)

Right now I am enjoying spending time with my foster family and getting a well-deserved, relaxing reprieve from shelter life. Within less than a week, I have become a snuggle bug to my foster mom. I chirp to greet my housemates when they enter the room!

I am 3 years old, female and in good health. I would do well with other kitties or as an only cat. If you wish to learn more about me, you can fill out an adoption application online, and/or check out my Instagram @twinkles_little_cat.

Reston’s Pet of the Week is Leeta. She’s available for adoption locally.

Here’s what her friends at Fancy Cats Rescue Team have to say:

Meet Leeta! This poor baby has had a rough start to her life. Her previous “owners” kept Leeta locked in a crate outside without showing her the slightest bit of kindness. Luckily for Leeta, Fancy Cats & Dogs came along to rescue her! Leeta is a very happy girl who is always smiling even when she sleeps.

She is crate trained well and, as long as she can see you, she does not cry, whine or bark while in the crate. She has some training going as she knows basic commands and minds well while on a walk. She seems to learn routines well.

Leeta’s foster thinks she would thrive in a loving home where she is the only pet. She craves so much attention and love that she’d prefer not to share you!

She loves to run and would love a running companion! Toys that squeak and crinkle are her favorites.

Are you and Leeta the perfect match?
