Runway to the Cure will return to Reston Town Center’s Ice Skating Pavilion on September 29 from 6-8 p.m.
The second annual event aims to raise money for breast cancer research and advocacy. local businesses and sponsors will work together to produce a runway fashion show. Breast cancer survivors will model clothing from Scouty & Molly’s and Athleta, as well as accessories from The Eyewear Gallery and Kendra Scott.
Organizers said this year’s goal is to raise $22,000, double the amount raised last year during the inaugural event. The event is free but a donation of $25 is suggested.

L’OCCITANE En Provence, a natural skin care, body and bath products store, has temporarily closed in Reston Town Center (11951 Market Street).
The French bath and body store closed on August 13 for renovations. Construction is expected to be completed roughly six weeks from this week. The store first opened in September 2011 in Reston Town Center.
Amanda Pasquariello, a spokesperson for the company, offered the following details about the renovation:
Through a sleek new design, with a hint of vintage detailing, a focus on warm elegant materials, and an emphasis on light, the new in-store experience will convey a renewed sense of modernity & conviviality for the brand. Stepping inside the new store guests will be greeted with an ‘Ice-breaker’ sink unit and this is where they will begin their L’OCCITANE discovery journey… Other parts of the boutique will feature an area dedicated to professional skincare consultations, an inviting Provencal lounge, and an enhanced cashier area featuring an impactful Gift Atelier where customers can explore our expertise in the Art of Gifting. The new store is due to open Fall 2018 and we are excited to bring the Sunshine & hospitality of Provence to Reston Town Center.

Fox Restaurant Concepts plans to open its North Italia concept in Reston Town Center by early 2019.
The new restaurant, which offers a contemporarily Italian model, will take up space at 11898 Freedom Drive in the Fountain One building. The space was previously occupied by Neyla Mediterranean Bistro, which closed earlier this year.
The North Italia restaurant concept is the second in the D.C.-region. The restaurant offers pizza, salads and home-made pizzas.
Boston Properties issued the following statement about the opening on Tuesday (August 14):
“We are delighted that North Italia will become part of the Reston Town Center community this winter. Their passion for handmade Italian cuisine and heartfelt customer engagement is unparalleled. They will be a compelling addition to our vibrant tenant mix,” said Stephanie Friedman, director of retail leasing at Boston Properties.
Other new tenants expected to open by next year include lululemon, Muse Paintbar, and Mason’s Famous Lobster Rolls.

Back to the drawing board with RTC North — “Fairfax County is re-evaluating plans for a 47-acre parcel north of Reston Town Center after rejecting a concept from MRP Realty and Norton Scott that was deemed too expensive. Joan Beachum, the county’s project coordinator for the public-private partnerships branch, said the county only received one submission after it issued a RFP last year for the project, known as Reston Town Center North. Mason’s Famous Lobster Rolls, an Annapolis-based restaurant, will open in late September, according to the company’s founder.
The 800-square-foot restaurant will be located at 11939 Democracy Drive, the former location of Red Velvet Cupcakery.
The restaurant would be the first Mason’s Famous Lobster Rolls branch in Virginia. The company has four locations in Maryland, one in Delaware and another in South Carolina. The Reston location’s menu is modeled after the Delaware location.
An exact opening date has not been set yet.
Artists of all ages and skills levels can now save the date for the annual ChalkFest at Reston Town Center. The annual street art festival invites artists to transform RTC’s Market Street with chalk drawings.
Registration is now open and artists can register in the following categories. Prizes will be awarded for each category, as well as audience chance awards.
This year’s sponsors include Boston Properties, Reston Community Center, Fairfax County Government, Reston Association, Cooley, and Leidos.

It’s not too early to begin planning for the fall. Flavors of Fall, a free annual festival that includes live entertainment, dancing and family activities, returns to Reston Town Center on October 6.
Admission and parking are free for the event. Restaurants will serve up samplings of their favorite falls menus. Tickets are $1 each or $20 for 24 tickets. Most food tastings require between one and five tickets.
Beer prices are five tickets for a 16-ounce, mainstream beer, six tickets for a 12-ounce craft beer and three tickets for a five-ounce craft beer. Wine is six tickets for a five-ounce poor and one ticket per wine tasting.
More information on the event will be released soon. The event is produced by the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce.

A new fast-casual restaurant is opening in Reston Town Center tomorrow. &pizza, which is known for its oblong-shaped pizza, will open its doors at 1826 Library Street, the former location of Teavana.
The Reston Town Center location is &pizza’s 30th restaurant in the country. The business will offer free pizza to the first 30 people line during the opening tomorrow. The square footage of the restaurant is 1,363 square feet.
The restaurant has roughly 58 seats, including outdoor seating, Emily Drago, a spokesperson for the company told Reston Now. This will be the company’s eighth location in Virginia.

Muse Paintbar will open at 11943 Democracy Drive in the winter, according to a company representative.
The target opening date for the wine-and-paint studio, which will have a 3,000-square-foot storefront, was originally set for the fall. The store will host painting sessions daily at its locations.
The Reston Town Center location will be one of more than two dozen locations along the East Coast. It takes the place of The Bike, which recently reopened at 11150 Sunset Hills Road.
No further details were available on the exact opening date.

After ten years of business in Reston Town Center, The Bike Lane has officially moved to 11150 Sunset Hills Road — roughly 50 feet away from the Washington & Old Dominion Trail.
With the new relocation, the bike shop has also added two new elements to its business: a nano-brewery and coffee bar.
“Our new location takes us into the heart of cycling traffic along the W&OD trail while giving cyclists the boost of a fresh cup of coffee and the relaxing atmosphere of a pub. Todd has been a home brewer for years and I love coffee,” said Anne Mader, co-owner of The Bike Lane. Mader also grew up in Reston.
Amongst various road and mountain bikes, beer will be brewed on site. The Bike Lane has partnered with Swings Coffee, a local D.C. roaster, to serve coffee drinks and snacks. The Bike Lane will also host food trucks on weekends.
“Cyclists love coffee and beer. This is a no-brainer. We are thrilled to combine top-quality cycling service and products along with tasty beverages and treats all in a warm and welcoming environment,” says Mader.
The Bike Lane has another location in Springfield. The Reston Town Center location – which first opened in 2008 – last year.

“Dog Days of Summer” sessions are back again at the Reston Town Center pavilion starting today (July 11).
The pavilion will be transformed into an off-leash play area every Wednesday through September 26.
Treats, toys and pet-friendly giveaways will be offered during the sessions.
Sessions take place from 4-7 p.m. The series is sponsored by Healthy Hound Playground, a dog daycare and boarding kennel and a grooming salon and spa located at 45910 Transamerica Plaza.
