Reston’s latest Pet of the Week is Buddy, a 4-year-old border collie mix who’s in need of a home after his owner passed away.
Here’s what Buddy’s friends from NOVA Pets Alive! have to say about him:
Buddy is 4 years old and 65 pounds. Sadly, his owner passed away and he’s now in search of a new, loving home.
Buddy is such an amazing dog! He’s super smart, housebroken, crate-trained, walks well on a leash, is friendly with other dogs and LOVES every person he meets. His foster mom is an avid runner, and he has been accompanying her on her morning runs. He really seems to like getting fresh air, jogging and taking in the scenery!
If you’re looking for a social, active, happy dog to add to your family, look no further than Buddy!

Meet Reston’s latest Pet of the Week, Honey. Honey is an expert lap warmer, and she often greets her humans with a happy chirp. She’s looking for a quiet home with no cats, dogs or kids.
Here’s what else Honey’s friends at Fancy Cats Rescue Team had to say about her:
If you’re looking for a calm, low-maintenance kitty who is an expert lap warmer, Honey may be the perfect one for you!
Honey instantly captivates with her beautiful, dilute tortie colors and markings. She is an easygoing kitty with excellent house manners. Honey craves companionship and loves to be where her people are. She often greets with a happy chirp. Her favorite pastime is curling up on your lap — she will stay there for hours if you let her! She enjoys a warm sunny spot to catch a snooze and watching wildlife outside as most cats do.
Honey is a great nighttime guardian and likes to snuggle up next to you in bed. It makes her sad if she is not allowed to. She has a little bit of a playful side on occasion — she likes laser lights, catnip toys, cat dancer toys and puff balls. Honey adores treats. She happily purrs while eating her favorites — so cute!
There are some specific preferences Honey wants you to know about. She is a bit of a “hands-off” kitty. She is not a fan of being picked up, brushed or being pet a lot. She will give a warning meow to let you know her limits and will follow with a swat or hiss if her warning isn’t listened to — classic ‘tortitude.’ Honey prefers to be the queen of her castle, she needs to go to a quieter home with no cats, dogs or young children.
Consider giving Honey the loving, forever home she has been waiting for. She is a sweet, quiet and mellow kitty who would love to keep you company for years to come.

Meet Reston’s newest Pet of the Week, Zippy Zeus. This playful boy has been treated for heartworms and is ready to find his forever family.
Here’s what his friends at Safe Haven Puppy Rescue have to say about him:
Look at this gorgeous boy Zeus! He is just the sweetest, too! He is 56 pounds and 3.5 years old, and everyone falls in love with him when they meet him.
When he came to us, he was unfortunately heartworm positive. We have treated him, and he has done well but does have a bit of a cough at the time. We had him checked out at the cardiologist (just to be sure), and they could not find anything of concern so his new family needs to know he may have a lingering cough. However, it certainly does not slow this guy down — just look at him enjoying the pool!
We need to find his forever family. We’re confident he will make his adopters a terrific companion. This beautiful guy is a nice blend of friendly affection and normal puppy playfulness and will bring lots of love to any home.

This week’s Pet of the Week is Lucy, a suspected part Maine Coon who loves bonding with people.
Here’s what her friends at Fancy Cats Rescue Team had to say about her:
Lucy is a sweet girl who likes to purr. She’s a longhair domestic who was rescued out of a box at 7 weeks old. She is now 3 years and 3 months old and weighs in at 9 pounds. Because of her size, markings and a meow that is often more of a “trill” than meow, she may be part Maine Coon. She’s been raised in an adult household, purely indoors, and has not been around other animals very much. I’ve been told she is timid around other fur babies in these situations.
She loves people bonding time and likes to lay right next to her person on the couch or in bed at night. She’s a good sleeper and won’t wake you at night. She’s very happy to lay on the foot of the bed and just know you are close by. She’s a quiet girl other than when she hasn’t seen her person for hours or if she’s craving treats. She will do figure eights around your legs, purr loudly and talk to you in both situations. You can’t help but laugh and scratch her.
Her favorite toy is a cat fishing pole, and she loves to chase the red light from a laser pointer. She runs and slides on hard floors because of the fluffy hair on her paws! She does need semi-regular combing of her hair and benefits from sanitary trims under her tail. She had a “lion cut” a few weeks ago and loved it, thanking mom for how much cooler she felt and reducing hairballs in her tummy!
She may be a little anxious while adjusting to new people and a new living situation but rest assured it will pass.

Meet Reston’s latest Pet of the Week, Shirley, a sweet 6-year-old collie who’s had a tough past and is looking for a caring home.
Here’s what her friends at Collie Rescue, Inc. have to say about her:
Shirley is a sweet 6-year-old collie girl with beautiful sable coat. Shirley has been through quite the ordeal and deserves the most wonderful home we can find for her!
At her previous home, she was neglected and not well-cared for. She was living outside and in filth. Despite her rough living conditions, she is luckily still in good health and we’ve taken her into our rescue. She received a nice grooming and is currently recouping from being spayed. She will be living with one of our foster families until we can find her a permanent home.
Shirley is a very sweet, timid dog will need a gentle home and family to care for her. She deserves the very best!

The newest Pet of the Week is Fred and Harmon, two bonded buddies who are looking for a home together.
Here’s what their friends at the Feline Foundation of Greater Washington had to say about them:
Fred is a super soft, sweet kitty who will come give you gentle kisses. He is buddies with Harmon. Fred loves being pet and chilling in his cat tree.
Harmon is an energetic kitty with a super loud purr! He loves to rub against you, roll around next to you, and plop down beside you to hang. Harmon likes attention and has been caught laying on his foster mom’s lap, covering her book to demand petting and that she pay attention to him. He enjoys some play time and then hanging in his cat tree with his buddy Fred.
Harmon and Fred are looking for a home together. Let us know if you have room in your home and heart for Fred and Harmon!
Are you the perfect match for Fred and Harmon?
Meet River, a sweet 1-year-old Shepard mix who loves taking new adventures as much as she loves snuggling up with you.
Here’s what her friends at NOVA Pets Alive! have to say about her:
River is 1 year old and 40 pounds. This girl is sweet, energetic and fun! She would love to accompany you on all your adventures and snuggle with you throughout the day.
Her foster dad says: ‘She’s very sweet, kind and loyal and will follow us around the house waiting for us to pay attention so she can roll on her back and get her belly rubbed. She also appears to have some training and seems to listen to some basic commands.’
Could you and River make the perfect match?
Meet Grace, this week’s Pet of the Week. Grace is a playful, talkative kitty who’s ready to show her new human lots of affection.
Here’s what Grace’s friends at Fancy Cats Rescue Team have to say about her:
Grace is a playful, energetic and lovable cat. She enjoys tossing her play mice in the air and leaping up to catch them. She is incredibly chatty and loves to meow for treats, attention and pets. Her favorite place to snuggle up is right beside you on the couch or in bed. She is a sucker for cat nip and loves to eat it and roll around in it.
Grace is very affectionate and often head butts for ear rubs and chin scratches. She enjoys sitting near a window and chirping at birds as they fly by. She is very acrobatic and loves to leap onto her cat tree and other high places to be the queen of her castle. Grace thrives in an environment where she can be the only kitty to receive all the love and affection.

Meet Reston’s latest Pet of the Week, Robbie. He had a tough past, but, even so, this sweet boy is trusting and is ready to make new friends (human and dog!).
Here’s what Robbie’s friends at NOVA Pets Alive! had to say about him:
Everyone loves Rob, and Rob loves everyone!
This sweet boy’s story will break your heart. He was tied outside to starve with several other dogs, some of which sadly didn’t make it. When we first met Rob he was skin and bones. It was hard to believe such a neglected dog could still be so trusting and sweet after all he was put through.
We sent Rob to an amazing foster family who nursed him back to health, and they have nothing but love for their sweet hound dog. Rob is housebroken, good with other dogs, good with kids, and loves going for a nice long walk.
Rob’s foster mom says: “He is a darling dog, super friendly with everyone. He’s made several people and doggie friends in the neighborhood and would do great with kids and a dog buddy. Rob is an absolute delight of a dog and whoever adopts him will be sooooooo lucky!”
Are you and Robbie the perfect match?
Meet Reston’s latest Pet of the Week, Shadow. This week girl is gentle, calm and affectionate.
See what her friends at Fancy Cats Rescue Team had to say about her:
Shadow is an affectionate cat any household would be lucky to have. She is very sweet, in a gentle and calm sort of way. True to her name, she will follow you around wherever you go, asking for attention. Shadow is not a clingy or up-in-your-face snuggler, though. She will sit beside you on the floor and occasionally the couch or chair and just ask for neck scratches.
One of Shadow’s favorite things to do is lay her head on your foot while you sit and just fall asleep, comforted by your touch. Shadow does like to play, but it isn’t usually for very long. She will not demand to play or to receive love and has a quiet, peaceful presence.
Shadow will greet you with a meow whenever you enter the door, a warm welcome and some affection. She will purr even before you touch her and soaks in all of the attention given. Shadow would do well in a less chaotic, quieter home where she can receive attention but will do fine being left alone for a few hours.
Are you and Shadow the perfect match?
Meet Joyful Jen, a friendly 2-year-old Great Pyrenees mix who’s looking for her forever family.
Here’s what her friends at Safe Haven Puppy Rescue have to say about her:
Jen is a happy, friendly girl who is 2 years old and weighs in at 88 pounds. She is so incredibly sweet and calm. She has been a joy to have with us, but she is ready to go to her forever family. We’re confident she will make her adopters a terrific companion. This beautiful girl is a nice blend of friendly affection and normal puppy playfulness and will bring lots of love to any home.
Are you and Joyful Jen the perfect match?
Meet Mr. Ginger, Reston’s latest Pet of the Week. Mr. Ginger is a sweet, gentle 14-year-old fella looking for a quiet home.
Here’s what his friends at Fancy Cats Rescue Team had to say about him:
Mr. Ginger is a tall 14-year-old kitty with a sweet, gentle personality. He willingly adjusts to petting, combing, trimming (his claws) and even vet check-ups. He likes to lean in to have his muzzle stroked and combed and requests more attention with a gentle tap, tap, tap of his paw.
Mr. Ginger enjoys a quiet environment with a regular feeding and petting routine or curled up in a warm, cozy place in the company of his people. As an older cat, Mr. Ginger has a sensitive stomach, which has been managed well with a wet cat food specifically designed for sensitive kitty tums. Catching outdoor critters makes him sick, so indoors is best for Mr. Ginger. He also has a little arthritis in his right hip but is still quite spry and can jump up into a lap or chair.
Are you and Mr. Ginger the perfect match?
Meet Hank, Reston’s latest Pet of the Week. Hank is a quiet and gentle 11-year-old who will love sitting on your lap.
Here’s what Hank’s friends at Fancy Cats Rescue Team had to say about him:
Hank is a quiet guy with the biggest heart. He would love to sit in your lap — if you help him up! Or he’s content with sitting in his comfy bed, near you, so he can be a part of the action. At 11 years old and super gentle, Hank loves being brushed and occasionally gets interested in shiny feather toys.
With a proper intro, Hank could live with another mellow cat, that minds their P’s and Q’s.
P.S. He’s a litter box champ! He’s just looking for a calm and quiet home with nice people who will dote on him in his golden years. He would benefit from a wet diet for his aging kidneys.
Are you and Hank the perfect match?
Meet Bella, Reston’s newest Pet of the Week. This sweet, gentle Boxer is estimated to be around 6 to 8 years old.
Here’s what her friends at Boxer Rescue and Adoption, Inc. had to say about her:
Bella is a very sweet, quieter dog who is a little reticent but warms up. She loves her creature comforts and is not destructive. She loves her crate, which is piled high with blankets.
She is gentle taking treats and the food bowl. We switched food when she broke out in hives, so that hasn’t been much of an issue lately. Bella would prefer a quieter home where she could spend time snuggling with her owner. She is happy to go outside but happier to be right back inside with you.
We don’t know how old Bella is, but she is probably a senior. When asked for a guess, the vet thought she was between 6 and 8, but because we don’t have long-term history on her, it is a guess.
Are you and Bella the perfect match?
Reston’s newest Pet of the Week is Rosa, a petite lady who is looking for a warm lap to nap on.
Here’s what her friends at Fancy Cats Rescue Team had to say about her:
Meet sweet Rosa! This little lady is looking for her forever family. She loves to sit on laps for scratches or sleep in a warm lap.
Rosa is very petite girl, weighing only 5 pounds. She’s a good eater and has perfect litter box habits. Rosa would prefer not to share your affection with another cat as she thinks she deserves all the pets!
She’s truly an amazing girl!
