Updated at 3;40 p.m. on Friday —Â Local police have arrested a 29-year-old man in connection with a series of assaults and robberies that happened in the police districts of Fair Oaks and Reston.
Gerald Brevard III was arrested and charged with burglary and possession of burglarious tools, according to a statement by FCPD released today.
Police made the arrest after Brevard III was found attempting to break into a home on the 13900 block of Mansarde Avenue in Herndon. He was also charged with abduction in relation to an assault in Reston. Other charges are pending.
On Nov. 27, a woman was assaulted in the hallway of a hotel on the 13400 block of Sunrise Valley Drive.
In another incident on Dec. 3, police believe a man entered an apartment complex on the 13500 block of Virginia Randolph Avenue and robbed a woman at gunpoint.
That same day, police believe a man hit a woman as she was walking near the intersection of Centreville Road and Woodland Park Road. The suspect allegedly assaulted the woman and robbed her. She was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital.
Detectives believe the offender in the above incidents is the same and is “active” in the area.

Two men were arrested in connection with the robbery of a 7-Eleven (21944 Cascades Parkway) in Sterling.
Marvin R. Garcia- Dominguez, 27, and Carlos A. Centeno-Torres, 29, were arrested over the weekend with the help of the Herndon Police Department.
Police believe one of the men pepper-sprayed an employee during the incident after pushing him behind the counter of the 7-11 in Sterling on Dec. 4. They left with an undisclosed amount of cash.
According to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, both men were charged in connection with a similar robbery that happened on Dec. 2 in the Town of Herndon. HPD did not immediately release information about that incident.
Both Garcia-Dominguez and Centeno-Torres remain held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.Â

Two suspects have been taken into custody during an early morning robbery today in Herndon.
According to the Fairfax County Police Department, the incident happened on the 2000 block of Rock Hill Road around 4:47 am.
A victim is being treated at a local hospital for injuries that are not life threatening.
FCPD urges residents to avoid the area as the investigation continues.

The Herndon Police Department is investigating a robbery that happened on the 500 block of Early Fall Court earlier this month.
Four suspects approached the victim at around 4:35 p.m. on August 4 and attempted to rob the individual, police said.
The suspects fled when the victim got the attention of residents outside of their home, according to the Herndon Police Department. The incident is under investigation.
HPD is also investigating an Aug. 9 stabbing on the 200 block of Elden Street.
John Patrick Murphy, 45, of Herndon, was arrested for attempting to stab someone he knew, according to HPD. He is being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center without bond.
Information about both issues was released late yesterday (Wednesday) in HPD’s weekly crime report.

Maryland Man Arrested in Connection with Robbery — Police believe Ronald Smith, 46, assaulted a man while he was walking along Sunrise Valley Drive on May 14 at around 8:30 p.m. Smith, a Maryland resident, was charged with robbery and possession of marijuana. Two Herndon men have been arrested in connection with the April 21 robbery of an Exxon in Sterling.
Jorge A. Alvarado-Soriano, 19, and Elias G. Guzman, 20, were arrested and charged with robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery.
Police believe the suspects entered the convenience store of the gas station at 45601 Falke Plaza at around 1:15 p.m. One suspect jumped over the counter as the second suspect attempted to purchase a drink from the store clerk. An undisclosed amount of cash was taken.
Although no weapons were displayed during the robbery, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office described the robbery as “strong-armed.”
Both suspects are being held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on no bond. Alvarado-Soranio was arrested yesterday (April 23) and Guzman was arrested on April 17.

Two businesses were robbed over the long weekend, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.
On Monday, Jan. 20, a man threatened a clerk at CVS Pharmacy (2525 Centreville Road) with a knife and stole cash from multiple registers. Police described the suspect as a black man who is likely in his early 20s or late teens. The incident happened around 8 a.m.
Streetshares (1900 Campus Commons Drive) was also robbed on Sunday, Jan. 19. Police believe someone entered the business at around 5:55 p.m. that day and stole cash.
On Saturday, Jan. 18, two victims were assaulted by two other men as they walked on the 13200 block of Poener Place shortly after 1 p.m. Police believe the men stole phones from the victims.
“The first suspect is described as a 20-30-year-old heavy set Hispanic man with a full beard. The second suspect is described as an 18-21-year-old Hispanic man,” police said.
A Herndon man was arrested in connection with a robbery of a home on the 1100 block of Casper Drive in Herndon earlier this month.
Police believe Jose Mendoza Banegas, 20, broke into the home and stole an undisclosed amount of cash and other items of value.
The Herndon Police Department indicated that the suspect entered the home through a basement window sometime between 7:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 2. Banegas was arrested on Dec. 12.
In a separate incident, Jose Alfredo Ardon Castillo, 47, of Herndon, was arrested in connection with the sexual battery of an individual known to him on Dec 13.
On Dec. 14, Ermes Urbano Castillo, 47, of Herndon was also arrested for the aggravated assault of a victim known to him. Both men were taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention enter where they were held without bond.
An attempted burglary was also reported at a business on the 1200 block of Old Heights Road in Herndon. No arrest was made in connection with the Dec. 11 incident.
The Fairfax County Police Department’s Reston District Station also reported the following minor incidents in recent days:

Local police are investigating after CVS Pharmacy in Herndon was robbed over the weekend.
Police believe the location at 2525 Centreville Road was robbed on Saturday, Dec. 14 at around 7:55 p.m.
The suspect implied she had a handgun and demanded cash, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.
FCPD indicated the woman is around 40 years old and was wearing dark clothing.Â

Local police arrested a juvenile in connection with a robbery and assault on Halloween and are looking for other suspects.
A victim said several males assaulted him and stole cash from his wallet when he was walking on the 2100 block of Ferguson Place at around 8 p.m.
A juvenile was arrested and charged after the incident.
Police are looking for an unidentified number of suspects involved in the incident. No description was provided by police.

A man was robbed during an in-person exchange of a cell phone with an online seller.
Police arrested Monzir Hassan, 18, of Reston for the robbery on Oct. 3 at around 5:53 p.m., according to the Fairfax County Police Department.
Authorities believe Hassan punched the victim in the face when the victim gave him money for the phone. Hassan was arrested after he attempted to escape in a black sedan, police said.
FCPD did not disclose how much cash was stolen.
In a separate incident, a home burglary was reported on Oct. 5 on the 2400 block of Old Farmhouse Road. Police believe someone broke into the home that evening and stole personal property.
