Police are determining whether or not to charge a woman who they believe scratched and attempted to bite two police officers on Tuesday (Sept. 11).

Local law enforcement responded to a report about a domestic assault at the 1900 block of Barton Hill Road around 7:33 p.m and found a woman experiencing an “apparent mental health crisis,” according to the Fairfax County Police Department. The Commonwealth Attorney’s Office is reviewing the incident to determine if the woman should be charged.

In a separate incident, the Herndon Police Department is looking for a suspect who may have robbed a business in the 1000 block of Herndon Parkway on Sept. 14 at around 5:15 p.m. The suspect, who was described as a slim African American man, displayed a handgun and ran away from the scene, according to police.

The police department is also looking for information about an assault near Herndon Library on Sept. 14. According to the Herndon Police Department, an individual was assaulted between 8-8:30 p.m. on the path between Center Street and Park Avenue. Deputies from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office made arrests this week linked to public intoxication and alcohol consumption.

On Sept. 14 at around 2 p.m., sheriff’s deputies charged Erik Vanzandt, 19, of Herndon with driving under the influence. The arrest was made after sheriff’s deputies arrived at the 44000 block of Waxpool Road in Ashburn for a report about a crash involving a parked car. Vanzandt was released from the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on an unsecured bond.

In a separate incident, Jason Wesley, 26, of Herndon was arrested and charged with public intoxication and possession of marijuana on Sept. 12 at around 8:47 a.m. The arrest was made after a sheriff’s deputy saw the man walking in an unbalanced manner in a parking lot near the 46000 block of Community Plaza in Sterling. Wesley was released from the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on an unsecured bond.

Local police continue to investigate several recent incidents in the last several days, including the apparent double murder and suicide that happened in Herndon last week.

As we reported, police believe Noera Ayaz, a 42-year-old attorney, killed her sons and then turned the gun on herself. Funeral services for the three family members were held late last week.

The Fairfax County Police Department is also continuing to investigate an attempted malicious wounding that happened on September 5 on the 2400 block of Centreville Road. A man driving a car shot another man who was riding a bicycle with a gun. Police said the two men knew each and other had been fighting earlier before the incident occurred. No injuries were reported.

In a separate incident, local police are also seeking leads to help identify a man after a public exposure incident happened on the 1600 block of Hiddenbrook Road. The man exposed himself to two teenage girls, according to police.

The county’s deer management archery program also began late last week. Overseen by the local police department, in collaboration with the Fairfax County Park Authority and NOVA Parks, the archery program will take place in parks and other locations in the county. The program ends on February 23, 2019.

Local police are seeking the public’s help to identify two men suspected of robbing a gas station on August 28 at 1:10 a.m.

Police believe two African American men wearing masks entered the 7-Eleven on 2303 Soapstone Drive and stole tobacco products and cash at gunpoint. The men were described as average build, between 5’10” and 6′.

Local sheriff’s deputies were called to Ashburn on Sunday around 2 a.m. for a report about two unconscious women in the back of a car.

Rescue personnel treated the women, including Skylar Dowdy, 18, of Herndon. Dowdy and another man in the car, El H. Birame-Se, 21, of Leesburg, were arrested and charged with public intoxication, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.

A third female involved in the incident, Summer Mirzian, 18, of Ashburn, was released on a summons for public intoxication and remained at the hospital for further treatment. The incident happened on the 43000 block of Burstall Court in Ashburn.

Last Thursday (August 16), a burglary happened at the 1600 block of Apricot Court at 11 p.m. and the next day at 7 a.m. According to police, an unknown person entered the house through the garage door and took several personal items.

In a separate incident, a Reston resident was arrested and charged with grand theft auto on Saturday (August 18).

Omar Romero-Caceres, 37, was found by a deputy on patrol who spotted him with a vehicle taken from Fairfax County, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.

A bicyclist crashed into a car while crossing the intersection of the Washington and Old Dominion Trail and Sunrise Valley Drive on Saturday.

According to the Fairfax County Police Department, the bicyclist did not stop before crossing the intersection and hit the side of a car around 5:55 p.m. The bicyclist did not suffer life-threatening injuries.

In a separate incident, a robbery happened today on the 2200 block of Hunters Woods Plaza at around 5:20 a.m. Despite a helicopter-assisted search early this morning, the suspects were not caught. An investigation is ongoing.

On July 28, a Reston resident was arrested in connection with a burglary on the 1400 block of Beaumeadow Court in Centreville. Chase Koon, 21, was arrested after police saw him attempt to enter the home through the front door.

Police responded to the scene when a resident called saying that someone was outside the home and was going to hurt their son. The suspect tried to get into the house by breaking windows and forcing the door open, according to Fairfax County Police Department. The homeowner was hit by the door when the man pushed it open, but was not injured.

Koon was arrested and charged with assault and battery, burglary with intent to assault, destruction of property, possession of marijuana and disorderly conduct.

Immediately after being released, police said Koon called police from a business on the 14000 block of Penrose Plaza and said he was going to harm employees there. Koon was arrested again and charged with disorderly conduct. He was then held without bond.

In other news, cash and items were taken during two separate incidents this week. A masked man came into the Sunoco on the 13000 block of Coppermine and demanded cash while holding a knife on July 24 at around 1:30 a.m. An undisclosed amount of money was taken.

Police described the suspect as a white man, between 25 and 30 years old and roughly six feet tall.

In a separate incident that happened sometime between July 20 and 23, someone entered a home on the 2500 block of Logan Wood Drive when the residents were out of town and took multiple electronic devices.

Cash was taken from two businesses over the weekend. On Saturday (July 14), an employee entered Ariake Restaurant (12184 State Route 4721) around 11:39 p.m. and discovered the door was unlocked and the cash register was missing.

At around 12:07 a.m. the next day, officers discovered a broke window on the storefront of Kung Fu Tea in Hunters Woods Plaza. The owner confirmed an undisclosed amount of cash was taken, along with a small cash box.

Local law enforcement officials believe a man followed a young girl into a women’s bathroom at a restaurant and attempted to kiss her.

Edward Nieves-Castro, 25, of Herndon, was arrested and charged with assault and battery. Sheriff’s deputies believe the incident occurred on around 11:30 p.m. on July 7 in the 200 block of Free Court in Sterling, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.

The girl ran around the suspect and went to her table. Her mother filed a report about the incident.

Local law enforcement officials arrested three individuals, including a Reston resident, on June 29 after receiving a report that the car they were in hit another car in a parking lot.

The incident occurred on the 600 block of West Church Road in Sterling. Neema Rezaee, 22, of Reston, Kara Donaldson, 21, of Sterling, and James Dunford, 34, of Sterling were arrested, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.

The three occupants in the car were charged with public intoxication and Rezaee and Dunford were released from the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on unsecured bonds. It is unclear who was driving the car.

Donaldson was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries and was released on a summons.

Local police continue to search for a man suspected of robbing a purse a woman and her five-year-old son as they walked home along a wooded path on June 11. The suspect was described as a 35-year-old black man with a mustache.

In a separate incident, a break-in was reported in a business on the 13200 block of Woodland Park Drive on June 14. An employee reported that someone entered the business through a window, but nothing was reported missing.

On the 45000 block of Dulles Eastern Plaza in Sterling on June 14, two Herndon residents were arrested for stealing items from a store. According to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, Jacquiline M. Genato Hermano, 29, and Romeo Petilla Jr., 38, were arrested.

Hermano was arrested and charged with grand larceny and conspiracy to commit larceny. Petilla was arrested and charged with grand larceny, embezzlement and conspiracy to commit larceny. Both were released from the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on an unsecured bond.

Loudoun County’s sheriff’s deputies spotted a man relieving himself on a parked car in the 1700 block of Bridge View Court on Saturday (June 10) around 7:16 p.m.

Deputies arrested and charged Richard Quaye, 35, of Reston with driving under the influence and refusal of a breath test. Quaye was released from the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on a secured bond.

A 20-year-old suspect was arrested in connection with a stabbing on May 31.

Fairfax County police charged Herndon resident Denis Alexander Castillo Hernandez with aggravated malicious assault. The victim was taken to Reston Hospital in life-threatening condition. The incident occurred on the 1300 block of Parcher Avenue, police said.

In a separate incident, Anthony Devine, 27, of Reston, was charged with driving under the influence, refusal to take a breath test and obstruction of justice. According to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, Devine was driving over the speed limit near Route 28 and Nokes Boulevard on June 2 around 2:41 a.m. He is being held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center without bond.

The Herndon Police Department is investigating a homicide that happened at the 400 block of Patrick Lane on Saturday (May 26).

Alexandro Alfaro Castillo, 40, of Herndon, was pronounced dead at the scene when police arrived around 10:15 a.m.

Police said Castillo sustained trauma to the upper body. Autopsy results will determine the exact cause of death, police said.
