A Fairfax County firefighter was assaulted in the emergency room of Reston Hospital Center (1850 Town Center Parkway) on Saturday at 9:40 p.m.

Thomas Feeley, 25, of Reston, was charged with assault on a firefighter. Emergency personnel brought Feeley to the hospital because he was bleeding and stumbling around Reston Town Center.

Once he arrived at the hospital, police said he began fighting hospital staff and emergency personnel. He was charged after being released from the hospital, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

A 23-year-old Reston resident was caught sleeping in a stranger’s front yard on the 800 block of North Sterling Boulevard on Saturday around 1:14 a.m. Loudoun County sheriff’s deputies arrested and charged Julio Cabrera-Mercado with public intoxication.

On Friday, a 21-year-old Herndon resident was also arrested and charged with public intoxication. Police believe the man, Erick Portillo-Guevara, refused to leave a restaurant on the 2000 block of Minot Drive in Ashburn.

A 21-year-old Herndon resident was caught yelling racial slurs in front of a home on the 1500 block of Poplar Grove Drive Friday night.

Carrick Shannon was charged with destruction of property, disorderly conduct and obstruction of justice.

Local police responded to a report that a suspicious man was attempting to enter a home in the area around 9:57 p.m. on Friday.

When officers arrived, they saw Shannon standing outside the home. He was arrested after a foot pursuit in woods nearby the home.

Police said they also found security footage of Shannon yelling racial slurs in the security camera and damaging the camera.

In a separate incident, a burglary was reported at House of Mandarin (2303 Soapstone Drive) around 12:40 a.m. on Saturday. Staff of a neighboring business heard glass breaking next door.

A burglary was also reported at a local Exxon (12080 Glade Drive) on Thursday around 2:20 a.m.. Police believe someone broke into the business and stole cash.

The Fairfax County Police Department is seeking the public’s help to find a Herndon man wanted for two counts of abduction and the use of a firearm.

Police believe Osman Osman, 37, of Herndon, assaulted and temporarily abducted his wife and child on March 24 in Chantilly.

In a release, police said Osman is likely armed and dangerous. He is wanted for two counts of assault on a family member, a protective order violation and transporting a firearm while subject to a protective order.

FCPD said Osman is 5 feet and 11 inches tall, around 200 pounds and has brown hair and blue eyes.  

Anyone with information should call 703-246-5393. Anonymous tipsters are eligible for cash rewards of $100 to $1,000 if the information received leads to an arrest.

Just before midnight on Saturday (March 31), Joaquin Ventura, 45, of Reston, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and driving without a license.

During foot patrol, deputies from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office arrested Ventura after determining he was driving a suspicious vehicle parked on the 22000 block of Enterprise Street in Sterling.

Ventura was released from the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on an unsecured bond.

An armed man was arrested on Thursday (March 22) after hitting  a police officer with his fist and spitting on him, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

Police arrested Carlos Cherry, 37, at the intersection of Elm Tree Drive and Sycamore View Lane in the Herndon area around 4:15 p.m.. Police said Cherry appeared to be intoxicated. He was charged with assault on a law enforcement officer, brandishing a firearm and intoxication in public.

In a separate incident on Friday (March 23) around noon, a resident found a window broken and items from inside a home on the 12000 block of Laurel Glade Court.

On Sunday, police pursued a wanted individual from Hampton on the 13100 block of Worldgate Drive. After a chase, the suspect, Warren Wendell Maxwell, 25, was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle and resisting arrest.

In a separate incident on Sunday, Ricardo Sanchez was charged with strangulation and attempted sexual assault. The incident occurred on the 1200 block of Bicksler Court, according to the Herndon Police Department.

Flores Portillo, 18, of Herndon, was arrested on Sunday and charged in connection with a series of larcenies.

The Herndon Police Department arrested Portillo on the 500 block of Early Fall Court. He was charged with seven counts of felony larceny and three counts of misdemeanor larceny.

Police located him after they received a report from someone who had found property that was possibly stolen. Portillo is being held at the Fairfax Adult Detention Center without bond.

The Fairfax County Police Department responded to a string of robberies over a three-day period last week.

On Thursday around 2:10 a.m., two suspects were spotted breaking a display case and taking several items from a business on the 10100 block of Colvin Run Road. The business owner was alerted about the break in and called police.

In a separate incident the next day, a 14-year-old boy was assaulted after he left a party near the 800 block of Charwhit Court around 11 p.m. Two teenagers followed the teen and took property from him, police said. The suspects were charged with robbery and taken to a local juvenile detention center.

As we reported late last week, a man wearing a mask robbed the Chevon gas station on 11410 on Friday around 8:30 p.m. The suspect was armed with a gun, but no one was injured. The investigation is ongoing.

The 17-year-old Lorton teenager charged with murdering a Reston couple in late December is now being held at the Fairfax County Juvenile Detention Center.

The unidentified suspect remained in the hospital after the Dec. 22 shooting, during which he shot and killed Scott Fricker and his wife, Buckley Kuhn-Fricker in their home on Black Fir Court. The teenager then turned the gun on himself, police said.

Over the last week, three burglaries at three homes kept local law enforcement busy.

The Fairfax County Police Department responded to a report about two home burglaries on Sunday. At around 5:30 p.m., several items were stolen from a house on the 12400 block of Margaret Thomas Lane.

A few hours later that same day, a burglary was reported on the 13200 block of Rolling Plains Court between 7 and 8:30 p.m. Money and property were taken, police said.

In a separate incident, police said someone entered a house on the 11700 Stratford House Place on Tuesday and stole a grey 2006 Honda Accord and other items. Police are investigating the incident, which took place between 7 a.m. and 7:15 p.m.

One robbery case was laid to rest by the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office. In an announcement late last week, the office announced it arrested two teenagers  in connection with a robbery and attempted robbery in Sterling last month.

As we reported last week, Jordan McNally, 18, of Herndon, and an unidentified juvenile from Centreville were charged in connection with the incident.

The Herndon Police Department is seeking the public’s help to identify a man involved in an indecent exposure incident.

At around 4:15 p.m. yesterday, a girl walked past a silver Toyota Scion as she got off the school bus at the intersection of Crest Drive and Old Hunt Way.

The man in the car asked her for directions. When she came close to the car, she realized he had no pants on and was exposing himself.

The suspect was described as a white male between 20 and 25 years old with a long beard. He was wearing only a gray hooded sweatshirt.

Several items were taken from a business on the 10100 block of Colvin Run Road on Wednesday, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

Police believe the business was broken into around 4:15 a.m.

In a separate incident last week, Reston Now readers reported police activity near Great Owl Circle late last week, including a white evidence collection van and several unmarked police cars.

Detectives were in the area on Friday for an ongoing investigation. There was no threat to public safety, according to a spokesperson for the police department.

As we reported yesterday, police are investigating an incident where a 15-year-old boy reported being filmed while using the bathroom at Red Robin in Fair Lakes Shopping Center.

Charges are pending against a 17-year-old Herndon boy, who police believe works at the restaurant.

The murder of a Reston couple on Friday rocked the local community and sent nationwide reverberations. Other crime reports continued to come in over the holiday weekend.

A 21-year-old was charged with driving under the influence around 1:20 a.m. today. The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office arrested Billan Waberi, a Herndon resident, along Route 28 in Sterling after receiving a report of a driver losing control of a car and striking a highway barrier.

Animal protection police officers are looking for the owner of an abused dog found last week in the area of Chatham Colony Court and Moorings Drive.

Police said the dog was “barely recognizable” and had nearly two pounds of matted hair covering is face and body. One of the dog’s eyes was visible and the other was infected and may not be functional. Anyone who recognizes this dog or knows where its owner lives is asked to contact the Animal Services Division at 703-691-2131.

Local law enforcement also arrested a man who refused to leave a restaurant on the 46000 block of Community Plaza on Saturday. Deputies from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office arrested and charged Fabian Gutierrez-Rodriguez, a 28-year-old Reston resident with public intoxication, police said.

On Sunday, sheriff’s deputies arrested Cristopher Duarte-Alvarado, a 21-year-old Herndon resident, in connection with an incident involving property damage. Duarte-Alvarado was located by the Town of Herndon Police Department on Old Ox Road and was transported to a local hospital. He was then charged with driving under the influence, driving on a suspended driver’s license, and hit and run. He was released on a summons for the charges.

The same day, sheriff’s deputies arrested Ekoue Doe-Bruce, a 43-year-old Herndon resident. He was charged with driving under the influence and is being held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.

On Friday at around 8:18 a.m., the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report about an ongoing larceny at a store on the 46200 block of Potomac Run Plaza.

Cristian Hernandez-Mejia, a 32-year-old resident of Herndon, was charged with grand larceny after police caught him as he attempted to flee by foot to a nearby hotel. He is being held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on no bond.

On Wednesday, Fairfax County Police Department’s Reston District Station also reported a burglary on the 12900 block of Park Crescent Circle. Someone entered the residence at around 8:30 a.m. and stole electronics, according to the report.

Police from the Reston District are seeking to file charges of unlawful entry for two teens who were caught breaking into Herndon High School over the weekend.

According to the police report, two students were caught inside the school at 2:40 a.m. on Sunday morning. Police said there appears to have been no property stolen or damaged in the incident.

In other local news, it appears to have been a relatively quiet Halloween in the Reston area. No major incidents have been reported; only a few larcenies, and no stolen vehicles.

A police officer was injured during a pursuit last week in Herndon, according to a police report.

Herndon Police arrested Isaiah Jacob Lacey, 21, on Thursday, Oct. 19 after the car pursuit that caused roughly $15,000 in damages, according to the report.

Police pursued the car on the 800 block of Ferndale Avenue after it fled from an officer who attempted to stop the vehicle for a traffic violation. The chase ended when the car hit a police car near the intersection of Ferndale Avenue and Park Avenue. One police officer suffered minor injuries.

Lacey, who has no permanent address, was held without bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center on the following charges: hit and run, felony eluding police, felony assault on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, possession with intent to distribute marijuana and other traffic violations.

Fairfax County Police are also looking for leads after two houses in the Herndon area were robbed on Friday, Oct. 20 and Saturday, Oct. 21. On Friday, residents on the 2400 block of Cypress Green Lane returned home to find a number of items had been taken between 5:30 and 11:45 p.m.

The next day, police said someone entered a home in the 13100 block of Diamond Mill Road and stole items between noon and 8 p.m.
