2014 Year in Review: Closings in Reston

by Karen Goff — December 30, 2014 at 10:00 am 6 Comments

Restonians said goodbye to a number of retail businesses in 2014. Some of them, like Lake Anne’s Lakeside Pharmacy, had been around for more than 40 years. The latest closing was Chili’s, which left its Sunrise Valley location after last call on Sunday night.

Here is who closed the doors here in 2014.

Romano’s Macaroni Grill

Dairy Queen

The CupCake Ladi

El Manantial

Milwaukee Frozen Custard

Le Shoppe salon

AT&T at North Point Village Center

New Family Naturals

Lakeside Pharmacy

Jasmine Cafe

Vie de France

Chili’s Grill & Bar

In fairness, El Manantial is just moving to old town Herndon.

    • Karen Goff

Yes but closed in Reston and now changing names. So we will go with closed.

Did the Greek place by the Metro close this year to become the meh, in my opinion, Mandoo House, or was it in 2013?
Looking forward to the tapas place opening as something akin to La Tasca would be nice for Reston.

That was this year, but since it just changed owners/names and never technically “closed” i did not include it. Stay tuned for Barcelona at RTC. Very similar to La Tasca.

    Milwaukee Custard was in Herndon.

Technically, yes. But areas such as the lower end of Elden Street or Fox Mill Shopping center get heavy use by Reston residents, so we report opens and closings of note there.
