A Herndon man is one of three suspects arrested early Saturday morning after a Loudoun County sheriff’s deputy responded to a larceny in progress in Sterling.
The incident took place at a store in the 24000 block of Dulles Landing Drive, where security reported at about midnight that three suspects had stolen several electronics items and forced entry into the jewelry case. An LCSO deputy confronted the suspects, at which time police say one of the men lifted his shirt and revealed a handgun. The deputy took the man to the ground and the weapon was secured.
The suspects were identified as Anthony A. Moaf, 20, of Herndon; Jalen P. McMahan, 22, of Centreville; and Angel L. Gaskins, 24, of Centreville. Moaf was arrested and charged with impersonating a police officer, carrying a concealed weapon, grand larceny, destruction of property, public intoxication and conspiracy to commit a grand larceny. McMahan was charged with grand larceny, conspiracy to commit a grand larceny, possession with intent (Schedule IV), possession of a controlled substance (Schedule IV) and manufacturing possessing/distributing narcotics. Both men are being held at Loudoun County Adult Detention Center with bond.
Gaskins was charged with grand Larceny, conspiracy to commit a grand larceny and public intoxication. He was released on a secured bond.
In other crime news, a woman in the 13300 block of Coppermine Road in Herndon reported an indecent exposure between 4:30-5 a.m. Saturday. She said a black man was standing on a fence near her residence when he exposed himself and touched himself inappropriately. Officers did not find the suspect, who was described as being about 5 feet 9 inches, between 140 and 160 pounds.

The All Dulles Area Muslim Society says it is “devastated and heartbroken” after a 17-year-old girl was killed near the mosque early Sunday morning.
The teen, who has been identified by family and friends as Nabra Hassanen of Reston, was a “dear daughter, sister and friend,” the ADAMS Center said in a Facebook post late Sunday night.
Police and the ADAMS Center both report the girl was walking with a group of teens along Dranesville Road early Sunday morning when a man exited his vehicle and assaulted and abducted Hassanen. The other members of the group were helped by “community members,” according to ADAMS, and directed back toward the mosque. ADAMS Center personnel contacted authorities in Loudoun and Fairfax counties, who began their search for the girl.
A suspect, 22-year-old Darwin Martinez Torres of Sterling, was arrested a few hours later when he was spotted “driving suspiciously” in the area of the abduction. A female body was found at about 3 p.m. Sunday in a pond in Sterling; the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will provide identification and determine the exact cause and manner of death.
“We thank both Fairfax County Police and Loudoun County Sheriff’s departments for their diligent efforts in investigating and apprehending a suspect,” the ADAMS Center said. “We call on law enforcement to investigate and determine the motive of this crime and prosecute to the full extent of the law.”

Hassanen was a sophomore at South Lakes High School, where counselors will be on site today. Counselors will also be at the ADAMS Center to assist anyone in need of support.
A vigil has also been slated for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Lake Anne Plaza.

Police say a body found this afternoon is likely that of a Reston teenager who went missing after an overnight activity in the Herndon area, and a Sterling man is in jail facing a murder charge.
Tawny Wright, spokesperson for the Fairfax County Police Deparment, said during a media briefing that officers responded at about 4 a.m. Sunday for a report of friends who couldn’t find a member of their group. Officers initiated a search for a 17-year-old girl in the area of Dranesville Road and Woodson Drive, near an unidentified facility the teens had left.
“Our investigation has determined that she was out walking with her friends when, for some reason, they got into a dispute with a man driving a car,” Wright said. “We’re looking into the details of exactly what happened, but for some reason, the man got out of the vehicle and he assaulted one of the group.”
Wright said the girl who was assaulted was the missing teenager, whom she did not identify. After a search that was assisted by the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, the grisly discovery was made at about 3 p.m. Sunday.
“Remains of a female were found in a pond off of Ridgetop Circle,” Wright said. “Detectives unfortunately do believe that was our victim, but the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will confirm the remains’ identity and determine the exact cause and manner of death.”
South Lakes High School sent an email Sunday evening saying it is believed the girl was a student there. Principal Kim Retzer wrote:
“Police are investigating the death of a teen who was reported missing earlier today. It’s believed that the missing teen is one of our students and while we await further news about this very sad incident, I would also ask that you refrain from engaging in rumor and speculation on social media about today’s events.
I wanted you to be aware of these developments and to inform you that we will have crisis counselors at the school beginning tomorrow morning. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s family.”
The Fairfax County Police Department reports of two cases of unlawful entry in Reston this past week.
The first was in the 2200 block of Castle Rock Square, between the morning of June 1 and night of June 3. Investigators believe the intruder entered the apartment by forcing their way through a door. Nothing was stolen from the residence.
The second was in the 11000 block of Villaridge Court, at around 2:20 p.m on June 8. The homeowner told police that her spare key was in the door, which was slightly opened. Some items in the home were moved, but nothing was taken.

Also last week, a Reston man police say had been drinking was arrested in Loudoun County. The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office says it responded to calls of a drunk and disorderly man at 11:11 p.m. on June 8 in the 44000 block of Riverside Parkway in Leesburg. Eugene D. Shaw, 45, was charged with being drunk in public and was transported to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.
A 19-year-old Reston man is charged with stealing from a car over the weekend.
The Fairfax County Police Department says they were dispatched just after 2 a.m. Saturday when a homeowner in the 2000 block of Beacon Place called 911 after hearing someone in his garage. Responding officers say the found the suspect in a neighbor’s car, and he attempted to flee to his own car.
Police say they caught the suspect, Daniel Fleischer, as he was getting into his car. Evidence was found in the car, police say.
Fleischer was arrested and faces charges of burglary, destruction of property, possession of marijuana and being drunk in public.
Also over the weekend, FCPD says a midday armed robbery took place at the GNC Store (2451 Centreville Road, Herndon). According to the report, a man entered the store at 12:11 p.m. Saturday, displayed a knife and demanded money from an employee. The employee handed over cash, and the suspect fled the scene on a bicycle.
The suspect is described as white, around 5 feet 11 inches tall, with a slim build. He was wearing a red hat and khaki pants. The victim was not injured.
Late last week, FCPD reported an incident of a peeping tom in Reston. According to the report, a man returned home to the 12200 block of Laurel Glade Court just after midnight Wednesday and “saw someone standing next to the bedroom window of his apartment.” The suspect fled when he was seen, and officers were unable to locate him.

In Loudoun County, a 20-year-old Reston woman was charged Friday with stealing from the JCPenney store at Dulles Town Center. The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office says Estefani A. Davis was charged with petit larceny and possession of burglarious tools. She was released from the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on an unsecured bond.
The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office has released surveillance video of a man wanted for an armed robbery at a Sterling 7-Eleven, and say the suspect may have committed similar crimes on Route 7 near Reston later the same evening.
LCSO says the 7-Eleven in Town Center at Sterling, just off Route 7 near the Fairfax County line, was robbed just before 12:30 a.m. Thursday. The suspect entered the store and brandished a firearm at an employee while demanding cash. He was wearing a black mask, black jacket, jeans and black shoes. He fled in a white vehicle.
Police say the incident was similar to two others that took place in Fairfax County just minutes later. The Fairfax County Police Department says those robberies took place in the 11500 and 11700 blocks of Leesburg Pike (Route 7), near Baron Cameron Avenue, between 12:30 and 1 a.m. Thursday. A weapon was “implied,” police said, and cash and merchandise were taken.
No one was injured in any of the robberies, police say.

Elsewhere in the area, a 49-year-old Reston woman was charged with assault and battery last week in the City of Fairfax after an incident at the Goodwill Store (9906 Main St.). According to police, the incident took place at about 2:35 p.m. May 23. A 45-year-old woman from Burke told police that she was assaulted inside the store. A warrant was obtained for Agnes B. Simb of Greywing Square, and it was served Sunday. Simb was released on her own recognizance.
Also last week, 32-year-old Herndon man was arrested in Fauquier County. Police say Steven Espinoza was arrested at about 10 p.m. Thursday on an outstanding warrant for possession of a controlled substance.
In addition, a Herndon teen was arrested over the weekend after he was found walking in a roadway in Loudoun County. Eashan S. Ahluwalia, 18, was charged with public intoxication after police found him in the area of Northlake Boulevard and Rim Rock Circle in Leesburg just after midnight Saturday night. He was released on a personal recognizance bond.
A 55-year-old Reston man shoplifted a half-dozen times from the same grocery store in Loudoun County since March, police say.
The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office says Johnny E. Conner was caught at about 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Wegmans store in Sterling’s Dulles 28 shopping center. They report Conner was found by a deputy to have concealed items in a bag and attempt to leave without paying for them.
Police say they believe Conner did the same thing at the store on March 1, March 8, March 9, March 11 and April 27.
Conner was charged with six counts of grand larceny and “additional charges are likely,” police say. He is being held at Loudoun County Adult Detention Center with no bond.
Police say a 17-year-old from Herndon was driving under the influence when she was involved in a hit-and-run crash in Loudoun County last week.
The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office says the teenage girl left the scene of a collision that took place just before 11 p.m. last Monday in Sterling. When police found her a short time later in the area of Atlantic Boulevard and Magnolia Road, she was issued a charge of underaged DUI. Further charges were pending as of the time the police report was disseminated.

A Herndon woman was surprised to find two men in her garage on a recent afternoon, the Fairfax County Police Department reports.
According to a police report, the woman found the burglary suspects in her garage in the 1600 block of Winterwood Place at about 5:10 p.m. Thursday. The men attempted to flee, but the woman was able to detain one of them without injury. The man, 19-year-old Richard Reyes of Herndon, was arrested and charged with two counts of burglary, two counts of grand larceny, possession of marijuana and being drunk in public.
The other suspect was also identified, police say. The investigation is ongoing, but police say it has been determined that the duo also burglarized another home.
FCPD also reports a robbery that took place Thursday between 10:30 and 11 p.m. in the 1600 block of Autumnwood Drive in Reston. Property was reported stolen from an open garage and a car parked outside.

In Loudoun County, police say a Reston man fled from a traffic stop just before 2:30 a.m. Tuesday on Charles Town Pike (Route 9). The driver, identified as 37-year-old Joel E. Hyduke, allegedly took off down Purcellville Road before exiting the vehicle and fleeing on foot. Hyduke was apprehended and charged with DWI and speeding before being taken to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.
Also in Loudoun County, a Herndon man was charged with driving under the influence after a reported crash at about 3:50 p.m. Saturday in the area of North Sterling Boulevard and East Church Road in Sterling. Brayan L. Palma-Camacho, 24, allegedly drove off after the collision, and deputies found his vehicle a short time later near Relocation Drive, about three miles away.
Palma-Camacho was taken to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center, from which he was released on a personal recognizance bond.
In the Town of Vienna, a Reston man with warrants out for his arrest from the Fairfax County Police Department was tracked down by a Vienna Police Department officer in the 200 block of Patrick Street SW at 9:41 a.m. Monday, April 3. The 20-year-old from Colts Neck Court, who was not identified by police, was charged with assault, destruction of property and making threatening telephone calls, and he was served with an emergency protective order.
In Fauquier County, a pair from Herndon were charged after police say one was spotted riding an all-terrain vehicle on a roadway. Erik Gjormand, 19, was charged with DUI, underage possession of alcohol and operating an ATV on a highway at about 6 p.m. Saturday in the 2500 block of Dumfries Road. Gabriel Coltrane Walker, 18, was also charged with being drunk in public.

A pair of homes in the Reston area have been burglarized in recent days, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.
One of the reported incidents took place at 2000 block of Kedge Drive, off Lawyers Road in Vienna, at about 3 p.m. Friday. The second happened in 11500 block of Hemingway Drive, in North Reston, around 6 a.m. Saturday.
In another notable report from the Reston District Station, a gun was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 1400 block of Beauford Court in Herndon.

A 29-year-old Reston man also made the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office report after deputies reportedly saw him “relieving himself” in a bush at One Loudoun at about 2:20 a.m. Saturday. The man was arrested, charged with public intoxication and later released from the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on a personal recognizance bond.
Police in both Fairfax and Loudoun counties say a group of teens was shooting pellets at vehicles on Leesburg Pike (Va. Route 7) overnight.
According to the Fairfax County Police Department, officers from the Reston District Station reported at about 4 a.m. to the area of Middleton Ridge Road after a report of a car being fired upon by a BB gun. Police checked the area and found a car matching provided suspect information. Police say five teenage boys inside the car allegedly were involved.
The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, meanwhile, reports a related incident in the area of Dranesville Road. They say a vehicle in that area suffered minor damage.
The FCPD officers apprehended the teens. According to LCSO, they were released to the custody of their parents.
No one was injured in either of the incidents. Charges and juvenile petitions are pending.

Police say a Reston man was caught in the act of assaulting a woman in Sterling last week.
The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office reports that 26-year-old Fredy F. Alfaro was observed by deputies to be assaulting a woman in a car in the 46000 block of Community Plaza at about 7 p.m. Wednesday. He was arrested and charged with assault. Alfaro was also charged with distribution of narcotics and public intoxication, and he was transferred to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 40-year-old Herndon man on Thursday after they say he stabbed three people in Sterling.
Police say Nelson Urbina-Zalaya is charged with three counts of malicious wounding and is being held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center. The charges stem from an altercation shortly after 2 a.m. Wednesday in the 46900 block of Community Plaza.
According to the report, two adult male victims were stabbed during the parking-lot altercation, while a third was hurt when he intervened. All three were taken to the hospital with what police described as non-life-threatening injuries.
The circumstances that led to the assault remain under investigation, police say.
A Reston man was charged with a Felony DUI — at least his fifth offense in the last five years — on Tuesday after he crashed his car into a creek and walked away from the scene, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office says.
Deputies were called to the scene at Algonkian Parkway and
Rutherford Circle in Sterling close to midnight.
A witness told officials male driver exited the vehicle andwalked away from the scene towards a footpath.
The driver was later located and identified as Marc A. Dixon, 31, of Reston.
Dixon was arrested and charged with misdemeanor hit and run and Felony DUI. Dixon has been charged with multiple DUI in the last five years, according to LCSO. He is being held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center without bond.
In 2014, Dixon was arrested for driving his car backwards down Rugby Road in Fairfax. During that arrest, Dixon provided false information as well as kicked the door and window of the police vehicle he was in, Fairfax County Police said.
In that incident, Dixon was charged with DUI (fourth offense), refusing breath test, fraudulent information to police, destruction of county property, driving while suspended (DUI related) and improper backing on the highway.
