A fire broke out earlier this afternoon in apartments on the 11400 block of North. Shore Drive.
Crews quickly worked to control the fire, according to the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire has not yet been determined. The fire was contained to an apartment unit.

Demolition has begun on the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department’s Station 25 in Reston.
After some delays, crews began the effort on Friday (March 20) to make way for a new fire station on 1820 Wiehle Avenue.
The project is expected to wrap up in the summer of 2021. Fire and rescue personnel are currently working from a temporary station at 1800 Cameron Glen Drive near the North County Government Center.
With a price tag of $14.8 million, the new fire station will have double the capacity, two levels, and space for administrative offices, a kitchen, storage, and bunk rooms.
The area around the fire station is slated for major redevelopment, some of which is already underway.

A fire at a home in Herndon displaced two residents yesterday (Wednesday).
Fairfax County Fire and Rescue personnel brought the fire under control on the 1500 block of Millikens Bend Road around 2:11 p.m. that day.
A resident who was home at the time discussed the fire on a stovetop. Fire investigators believe the fire started in the kitchen after cooking oil ignited and spread to nearby combustibles.
The fire caused $255,675 in damages. A dog that resided in the home died during the incident.

A Reston house fire displaced five people on Monday (Feb. 17).
It took the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department 12 minutes to extinguish the fire, which started in the single-family home on the 10700 block of Meadowood Drive at around 1:40 p.m. that day.
Fire investigators said the fire was caused by an unattended stove in the kitchen. The incident caused $243,750 in damages.

County officials estimated that the demolition, which would make way for a new and larger fire station, would begin in early December. Due to construction delays, it is likely the project will not begin until at least February.
Until then, a spokesperson for the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department said that firefighters will not move into the temporary station until late January.
The $13 million project calls for replacing Reston Fire and Rescue Station 25, which was built in 1972 and last upgraded in 1986, with a two-story station more than double the size of the current site.
The new 17,150-square-foot station will include four bays and is designed to have a more contemporary look.
An apartment fire at The Cosmopolitan at Reston Town Center was sparked by an electrical event in an HVAC unit, according to fire investigators.
The fire broke out on the 14th floor of the apartment building during the afternoon last Friday (Jan. 3).
Though a spokesperson originally told Reston Now that only one person was transported to the hospital, a tweet from the fire department this morning (Jan. 6) said that a second person was also taken to the hospital for a checkup.
A contractor working in the vacant apartment discovered the fire, which was too small to activate sprinklers, according to the latest Fairfax County Fire and Rescue tweet.
The fire resulted in around $1,000 worth of damages, according to the tweet.

Fairfax County fire investigators say that the auto-ignition of cooking oil caused a house fire in the Town of Herndon on Jan. 1.
The fire broke out around 2:44 a.m. in the 1400 block of Cuttermill Court. The incident caused roughly $93,750 in damages, according to the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department. The fire was caused by cooking oil that spread to nearby combustibles in the kitchen.
Three people were at home when the fire broke out. No injuries were reported.
Fire and rescue officials urge residents to ensure smoke detectors are working inside homes.  In this incident, residents were awakened by the sound of a smoke alarm.
“The firefighters and paramedics of the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue would like to remind all residents that half of all fire deaths happen between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. when most people are asleep. Working smoke alarms save lives.”

A fire that broke out this morning at a townhouse in Reston is now out.
Flames were sparked inside of a kitchen appliance at the 2200 block of Lofty Heights Place, according to a tweet shortly after 10 a.m. from Fairfax County Fire and Rescue.
Firefighters have extinguished the fire, according to the fire department.
It is unclear if anyone was injured.

Fairfax County fire investigators say that an electrical event caused the house fire in Reston on last Monday, which resulted in thousands of dollars worth of damage and displaced four residents.
The fire broke out around 6 p.m. in the 2000 block of Beacon Place.
“The fire was swiftly contained and extinguished,” Fairfax County Fire and Rescue said in an update today (Monday). “There were no civilian injuries reported. One firefighter suffered a minor injury and was transported to an area hospital for a check-up.”
Three people who were home at the time of the fire safely evacuated after the homeowner smelled smoke, the fire department said.
“Fire Investigators determined that the fire started in the basement and was accidental in nature,” the fire department said. “The cause of the fire was an electrical event involving the wiring for the AC disconnect box.”
The fire resulted in damages worth $183,750 and displaced four residents, according to the post.
The displaced residents declined Red Cross assistance.
