Denetra Bryant/Credit: FCPDFairfax County Police arrested a 30-year-old woman with assault on a law enforcement officer after they say she struck an officer in a Herndon-area parking lot over the weekend.

Police from the Reston District Station were called to the 2400 block of Centreville Road for a report of a disorderly crowd outside of Breakers Billiards Saturday at about 1:50 a..m.

When they arrived, they found a crowd of about 25 people dispersing. One person remained, though, and approached and struck an officer, police said.

Denetra Antwanette Bryant of Reston was arrested and charged with being drunk in public and assaulting a law enforcement officer.

Fairfax County Police A traffic stop ended in a scuffle with police and drug charges for a 27-year-old Reston man Tuesday night.

An officer made a traffic stop for an expired license plate and no state inspection in the 1500 block of North Village Road about 10:57 p.m.

As the officer approached the car on foot, she said she detected a strong smell of burning marijuana. She asked the driver to step out of the vehicle and when he did, the driver locked the door and put the car keys in his pocket and became uncooperative and belligerent with the officer, police said.

Backup officers arrived and attempted to take the suspect into custody for obstruction of justice, but he physically resisted. An officer deployed a taser “Drive Stun” mode to gain compliance. The suspect was then arrested without further incident. There were no injuries.

The vehicle was searched incident to the arrest and suspected marijuana and cocaine was seized from the vehicle and from the suspect.

The suspect, Ty Connor Allen, 27, of Waterfront Road in Reston, was transported to the Adult Detention Center and charged with obstruction of justice, possession of marijuana, and possessing a chemical unlawfully received.

Fairfax County Police Fairfax County Police charged two Reston residents with larceny and being drunk in public early Wednesday after the suspects refused to leave Reston’s Target store — and when they did, they left with stolen merchandise and led police on a foot chase.

The officers were called to the store at 12197 Sunset Hills Rd. at 12:12 a.m. with a report of two intoxicated people who refused to leave at closing time.

When police arrived, the suspects were walking outside the store carrying merchandise they did not pay for, police said.

Officers gave commands to the suspects to stop, but they disregarded those commands and fled across the parking lot, into a wooded area adjacent to the store. Officers gave chase and apprehended one suspect without incident. The second suspect again failed to obey lawful commands from the officers and a taser was employed, which led to compliance by the second suspect.

Larrell Lansdowne, 32, of Freetown Court in Reston, was charged with grand larceny and being drunk in public. Shannon Jimenez, 33, of Greywing Square in Reston, was charged with petit larceny and being drunk in public.

Fairfax County Police Fairfax County Police are investigating an armed robbery that took place early Saturday morning in Reston.

Police said a 24-year-old man reported her was walking on Glade Drive near Freetown Court about 5:30 a.m. when a gray SUV pulled up next to him.

A male passenger got out of the SUV, pushed the victim to the ground, produced a handgun and demanded money, police said. The victim handed over his wallet containing an undisclosed amount of cash and credit cards. The suspect got back into the SUV which then fled west on Glade Drive.

The victim was not injured. The suspect was described as a black male, 30 to 35 years old, wearing dark clothing.

Fairfax County Police Two men forced their way into a home near Reston Town Center and fled in the resident’s vehicle, Fairfax County Police said.

The 67-year-old woman who was the victim of the home invasion robbery told police two suspects forced their way into her townhouse in the 12000 block of Edgmere Circle about 8:41 p.m. Thursday.

The suspects took property and fled in the victim’s vehicle, which was later recovered near  Reston Town Center, police said. The victim did not require medical attention.

The victim described one suspect as a black male, 20 to 30 years old.

Detectives do not believe this was a random event or that there is any threat to the public.

Fairfax County Police Greywing Square in south Reston was the site of a burglary and two stolen vehicles in the last 10 days, said Fairfax County Police.

The apartment burglary took place on Nov. 24 in the 12000 block of Greywing Square. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole property between 9 a.m. and 5:50 p.m.

Greywing Square is part of The Springs Apartment complex at South Lakes Drive and Colts Neck Road.

Also last week, two vehicles were stolen from the 12000 block of Greywing Square: a 2002 Buick and a 2014 Jeep Compass.

Fairfax County Police The Fairfax County Police’s Tysons Urban Team and the Christmas Anti-Theft Team arrested two New York men for larceny and possession of counterfeit money at Tysons Corner on Wednesday.

It was the third such arrest by the department’s anti-theft team in the last week. On Black Friday, two Baltimore-area men were arrested for allegedly stealing more than $10,000 in merchandise from Reston’s Best Buy. Earlier last week, two New York men were caught making large purchases with stolen credit cards at the Tysons Corner Apple Store, police said.

On Wednesday, officers were called to Macy’s at Tysons Corner Center for a report of a male suspect in the store allegedly passing suspicious U.S. currency.

Responding officers located the suspect and watched him enter a vehicle driven by another man. Officers stopped the vehicle and identified that both suspects were wanted for crimes in other states on the east coast, police said.

FCPD’s subsequent investigation produced additional counterfeit U.S. currency, along with several thousand dollars in stolen merchandise.

Nathaniel Thompson, 35, and Byron Lee Giles, 35, both of Brooklyn, New York, were charged with possession of counterfeit bills, uttering false notes, and larceny by false pretense, police said.

Shoron Junior Wilkerson, of Fairfax, was charged with unlawful entry and burglary after he was seen on a video camera inside the building.

On Sunday, Nov.29, around 10:43 a.m., FCPD officers responded to the Astute Technology Building in the 11700 block of Bowman Green Drive for a burglary in progress call.

The owner was monitoring this location utilizing a video link that enabled him to see the inside of the building in real time, police said.

A subject was seen inside the building and police were called. The suspect moved out of view of the camera and his last known location was reported as being in the lobby.

Officers set up a perimeter outside the building and apprehended Wilkerson after he exited.

Fairfax County Police apprehended three suspects they say were involved in a retail theft operation on Black Friday at Reston’s Best Buy.

Officers from the FCPD’S (RATT) Retail Anti-Theft Team on Nov. 27 observed three people acting in a suspicious manner by making multiple trips into and out of the Reston’s Best Buy at Spectrum Center and to a rental vehicle in the parking lot.

The subsequent investigation produced and recovered more than $10,000 in stolen merchandise from Best Buy and Walmart, police said.

The three suspects, all from the Baltimore area, were arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit larceny, grand larceny, grand larceny with intent to sell, and possession of burglarious tools.

Last week, the FCPD anti-theft group also apprehended four New York residents making large purchases with stolen credit cards at the Tysons Corner Apple store.

A business burglar alarm sounded in the 11700 block of Bowman Green Dr. about 10:43 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 29.

Officers, including K9, responded and  set up a perimeter. When the suspect exited the business, officers challenged him. He complied with commands and was taken into custody without incident or injury. He was charged with burglary.

Accident on Sunset Hills

Updated, 4:30 p.m. Friday with more information from police

A 47-year-old man was flown to Inova Fairfax Hospital Friday morning after he was struck by the driver of a Chevrolet Impala while he was crossing Sunset Hills Road.

Fairfax County Police said the accident occurred about 10:50 a.m. in the 14900 block of Sunset Hills between Isaac Newton Square and Plaza America Drive. There is neither a light nor a crosswalk at that location.

The pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries, police spokeswoman Lucy Caldwell said. The driver of the car, who lives in Reston and was heading eastbound on Sunset Hills, was not injured. He was also not charged, police said.

Fairfax County Police Fairfax County Police arrested three juveniles after another teen was robbed and assaulted on the Reston Association bike path near Hunters Woods Village Center.

Police said a 15-year-old boy was walking in the tunnel near Colts Neck Road on Friday about 2 p.m. when three people came up from behind and surrounded him.

They boy said the suspects pushed him to the ground and took his cell phone. A suspect description was broadcast and three juvenile suspects were stopped at the Wiehle-Reston East Metro station.

The suspects were positively identified and subsequently arrested. The victim was not injured, police said.

FCPD helicopter division/Credit: FCPDThe Fairfax County Police helicopter was circling south Reston Thursday night, leading many Reston Now readers to ask why.

Fairfax County police said a woman reported her purse was stolen in the 2200 block of Gunsmith Square about 11 p.m.

Police looked for a suspect via ground and air, but did not locate him, said FCPD Officer Shelley Broderick.

Fairfax County Police said three burglaries were reported in apartment complexes near Hunters Woods Village Center on Wednesday.

Two incidents were in the 11900 block of Winterthur Lane. A resident told police someone entered their apartment bout 2:30 p.m. It is unknown at this time if anything was taken, police said.

A resident of the same block told police someone entered their residence and took property shortly before 8 p.m.

Earlier in the day, at 12:30 p.m., a resident in the 12000 block of Greywing Square reported someone entered the residence and took property.

Last week, burglaries were reported in the 12000 block of Greywing Square and in the 2300 block of Freetown Court.

Fairfax County Police Fairfax County Police are investigating two burglaries that took place in the south part of Reston in the last week.

The first incident was in the 12000 block of Greywing Square on Nov. 12. A resident reported to police that someone entered the home and took property sometime between 12 and 9:30 p.m.

The second incident took place several blocks away in the 2300 block of Freetown Court on Nov. 17 at 10:30 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the residence and took property.

It is not known if the two burglaries are related.
